trigger warning:
ladies & gentlemen, we have a whooper...
there you are, third row, dead centre, perfect spot - and who should appear just over your left shoulder. the whooper
he who whoops
at the end of songs
between songs
during songs
at seemingly random moments not apparently especially whoop-worthy
but whoop he nevertheless does
at high and eardrum-threatening volume
he also, it turns out, knows quite a lot of the words...
in his defence, it's hard to fault his enthusiasm
and he is, mostly, pretty much in tune
rather him than the curse of the fucking chatters
but still, i must warn you, if you listen to this (otherwise pretty great) recording, you're going to get to know and hate him
just as i did
it's a shame, as the dream syndicate are in blistering form this evening
listening to steve wynn and jason victor battle it out is like standing ten feet away from twin neil youngs
maybe it's consecutive nights in the same (tiny) venue, but on the second of the two, the band seem in no mood to leave the stage
i've seen many full sets here shorter than tonight's encore
by the end of the two hours, my face hurt from grinning
and i'd almost forgiven the whooper
but not quite
